Getting sore today- I'm paying for those 2 months I didn't work out. Sore, but in all the right places. Did Pilates yesterday and I love how tight it makes my core feel. I feel like I stand up a little straighter, my back aches a little less, and pretty soon my pants will fit looser! :) I don't feel like hitting the gym today because of my muscle aches- but I must because it'll be good for me to keep moving instead of getting stiff from inactivity. To compensate, I might change up dinner tonight since it was supposed to be the pretty-involved Shepard's Pie. We'll see how we go after lunchtime.
Wednesday
Food Diary
Banana
Coffee
Almond Flour Pancakes (some w cinnamon, some w raspberries and whipping cream)
Chocolate Mousse and raspberries
Almonds
Peppermint Tea (decaf)
(Did I not eat lunch yesterday??)
A few slices of orange and a forkful or two of Salisbury Steak from Liam's lunch leftovers
Southwestern Frittata w broccoli added and sausage instead of beef.
Walnuts and almonds
I guess those almond pancakes were really filling because I don't think I had a proper lunch yesterday. That must by why I had 3 helpings of the frittata! I gotta watch my nut intake because, even though they have the good fats, you still need to eat in moderation to lose weight. I try to eat them when I'm craving chocolate. I had read somewhere they work on the same receptors? Not sure if that's true science- it was on Pinterest. :) The almond pancakes were just ok. Mine weren't fluffy like the pic but the toppings definitely helped.
I don't list it above, but I do drink gobs of water each day. Usually 64 oz or so, more if I do cardio. It's so important to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. The less water your body has, the more it wants to hold on to any bit it has thus creating water retention. Water, as we know, also flushes out your systems so any fat your breaking down or toxins you're releasing can all get pushed through on your next trip to the restroom. With Sjogren's I also need lots of water because my immune system is constantly undermining me staying hydrated. When I start feeling achy the extra water definitely helps. I drink more water when it's nice and cold from a filter. The container also helps. It's gotta be easy to get big gulps from (I had read using straws actually makes you drink more?) and it has to be mobile. My water bottle goes everywhere with me so I'm always sipping. It's a great habit for the kids too (even if it means a few more potty stops). Some people put fruit in their water to change up the flavor a bit. Very rarely do I get bored with water, but when I do I have found I can brew some unsweet tea for the fridge and that's enough "flavor" to break up monotony.
Exercise
Like I said above, Pilates was Wednesday. I really like the instructor on Wednesdays because she kills you but does it in her cheerful, sweet voice so you don't really mind. You laugh with her while you're slowing dying. When I leave a class, I want to feel like I've worked out otherwise I feel I've wasted my time. This is why my obliques are screaming at me today.
The plan was to Spin on Thurs, but I am so sore I might just do a 40 min elliptical session instead. I don't want to over-do anything because I still have 2 more days of working out I'm trying to get to. My favorite spin instructor's class isn't until this afternoon so maybe I can recoup by then. Good music always helps push through a spin class. I also like how she teaches you things about exercise, heart rates, or working out while we ride.
Overall
More energy, but hands and fingers ached most of the day. Maybe from holding yoga poses? Some stiffness in lower back but stretched on exercise ball to help.
